This man should be sued for malpractice. He is so unprofessional. I swear it seems like his certifications are just dissecting animals in his basement. Do not trust this man with your pets. I won't even call him a doctor because he isnt. Dear Roy J Appel I hope all the animals you have killed due to your malpractice come back to haunt you.
Very knowledgeable doctor.
Very responsible answers
He saw my cat and told me she had cancer before he even took the x rays.,and when no other vet would give me an immediate appointment.
When I called his office I was told that they had no availability but if I would take my cat there and would not mind waiting he would see her.
After the x-rays he confirmed it was cancer and explained my options.
I am against euthanasia so I took her to specialists
Pretty much from the specialists I was told the same thing.
If you care about your pet and u can handle
the truth without sugarcoating take your pet there.
I am against euthanasia.... and my cat passed when it was time
I wish you all the best for your pet.
This review is long overdue. But everytime I look at my dear cat Leif, I am reminded that he is only here with me today because of Dr. Appel saving his life. In December of 2019, my cat Leif started exhibiting symptoms of a urinary blockage. Because of how life and death this condition can be, I wasted no time in taking him into emergency care to get treated. My usual vet, One Love Animal Hospital had closed for the night, so I quickly researched emergency vets that were still open late in the evening. That's when I found Dr. Appel and his team over at Fifth Avenue Veterinary. Dr. Appel has well over 20+ years of experience in animal medicine and care. He was through in explaining what was happening with my cat and gave me multiple options on how to treat him. My cat ended up have multiple urinary blockages over the course of a month and a half, and I ended up having to get the PU surgery done for him. During the course of the treatments, Dr. Appel and his staff were kind, patient, and made me feel like they were treating my cat as one of their own pets. Vet care is expensive, and can be very costly, but never did I once feel like Dr. Appel was pushing anything extra or being insensitive to my finances and situation. Dr. Appel is at times very straightforward and tells you exactly what is going on, but I respect that honestly and direct approach. I felt completely comfortable and trusted him with the life of my cat Leif, and I am so happy that I did! He regularly called me while Leif was being hospitalized and gave me updates and put my mind at ease. He was also never too busy to take my calls or calm me down when times got extremely stressful. Months later after the surgery, Leif is completely healed and able to dispose of his urination.
The worst service ever. The doctor is an insane butcher, who tried to manipulate to get more money buy suggesting teeth removal for my cat who had current digestion problems just by looking at him. So, I asked to get a blood test first and paid for it but I couldn’t get results for two days until I scheduled an another appointment to outfox them.
So I got suspicious and went to a different vet few days later, my cat’s teeth are fine, nothing to remove.
By the way three or four people came to pick up their pets ashes while I was waiting in a line.
Terrifying how some people try to make you pay for whatever to get more money knowing that you ready to pay any money for the pet you love like your own child.
Disgusting.
The best vet in New York! He has saved our cat's life many times: when he had seizures, a skin infection, and pancreatitis. He knows what he's doing. Dr. Appel is extremely talented and professional. We will pray for long, healthy years for him so that he can continue performing his magic. Matthew says hi to his doctor!
i have no words for my experience this man should be shut down. i can see why some gave good reviews because depending on when you go depends on the service. this man is unpredictable unprofessional and disrespectful. he threatened not to see my dog if i kept talking after 3.15 hours of waiting. he didn't sedate my dog cause it was 6pm and would take hours to wake him up. he lied and told me he would sedate first visit. waiting for blood work results and will find another doctor. my poor dog is in pain and issue with the foxtail is not resolved as of yet. shame on him.
We never actually got our pets seen at his clinic, but few years back Id like to review one late night phone call Appel answered after our ma gave our kitten, Sandy, a raisin 🙄 from her cereal. I freaked the f out and called the nearest 24h vet. I'd like to attest to Appel's assuring and kind demeanor on the phone call. We'd love to have him as our vet, but parking seems to be a pain and we're coming from Jersey so... 😳
Dr. Appel saved my dog Cersei's life. I called the veterinary hospital and his assistant very kind told me to get there as soon as possible. After the Dr. saw her, was straight forward with me and told me that she needed to be in observation and he would have to stay with her overnight due to her bloody diarrhea My baby stayed in the hospital for three days, where the Dr. and his staff took care of her. I can not be more thankful with them. She is alive now and that's what it matter to me. Also i have to say that that the hospital is very clean and everyone is very nice and helpful.
thank you so much !!
